Meditation
Buddhism propagates meditation as one of the most effective ways of calming the mind and achieving and inner sense of peace. The underlying tenet here is that mental or emotional stress lowers the body’s natural immunity making it prone to diseases.
Meditation helps us to suspend our thoughts and calm the mind through relaxed awareness and regulated breathing. It helps to enhance our feeling of well-being, which is instrumental in maintaining good health. As explained in Buddhist texts (and also in Ayurveda), negative emotions have a direct impact on the health of our organs.
For example, a person prone to excess anger will eventually damage his liver, while excessive bitterness or frustration affects the heart. Regular meditation helps to neutralize our emotions, giving us a sense of peace and well-being. The Ruesri Dat Ton or the Hermit’s Self-stretching exercise is an adjunct to meditation and, although many postures overlap with those of Yoga, it is claimed to be indigenous. It includes about 80 postures to promote physical flexibility and suppleness. |

In Ayurveda, meditation along with Yoga (exercise postures) and Pranayama (breath regulation) are integral to mind-body care. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, ritualized calisthenics and breathing techniques such as Qigong and Taiqiquan are used to promote self-healing and prevent diseases.
Knowledge is like a river. It comes from a single source, but as it flows, it etches a distinct course of its own. At every turn and bend, it carries along a little of everything that is in its path.
Traditional Thai Medicine is one such river. It has effortlessly imbibed the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine into its indigenous flow of healing modalities.
Besides providing the basis for local spa treatments, Traditional Thai Medicine is a profound healing system with immense potential for both prevention and cure at every level of our being.
